Apartments and commercial buildings in Alaska and Hawaii had the highest average Energy Star score as of late 2022. On the other side of the spectrum, buildings certified by Energy Star in Illinois and Washington, D.C. had the lowest energy efficiency scores. New York was among the cities in the U.S. with the most apartments certified by Energy Star.
