In 2022, people under 14 years of age were the largest age group in La Réunion and in French Guiana, with 192,432 and 92,075 individuals, respectively. In Guadeloupe and Martinique, people between 45 and 59 years of age were the most numerous, with 87,629 and 84,445 inhabitants, respectively.
In these two regions, the population has been slightly increasing in recent years, while the population of French Guiana has increased sixfold in five decades, and that of La Réunion has doubled.
