As of October 2022, almost **** (** percent) of adults surveyed in the United States said they preferred to watch classic horror movies, while little more than **** (** percent) said they preferred newly released films from that genre. Among respondents who reported liking or loving horror movies, the preference for classics decreased to ** percent. Meanwhile, almost **** (** percent) of interviewees who said they disliked or hated the genre reported a preference for classic horror films. According to another study conducted around that same time, "Halloween" and "Friday the 13th" were the favorite horror film franchises in the U.S.
