In the last 40 years, the Cerrado biome has seen the greatest share of wildfire occurrences in Brazil. Between 1985 and 2020, around *** million square kilometers caught fire at least once in the country, out of which, **** percent was in Cerrado. Combined with the Amazon, the two biomes accounted for some ** percent of wildfire areas in Brazil.
