Based on the report published in October 2021 by the Commission Independente sur les Abus Sexuels dans l'Eglise (Independent Commission on Sexual Abuse in the Church), there have been approximately ** victims of sexual violence within the Church in France since 1950. After these revelations, the demand of French Catholics for a change within the religious institution was very strong. Among the possible actions to move towards this change, **** out of ten Catholics were in favor of the Church giving more responsibility to women. The older the respondents, the greater was their support.
