At the end of 2019, three in ten people in Canada believed that Canadian society should work to promote the traditional family model in which a woman is married to a man, rather than greater acceptance of non-heterosexual people. Among Canadians who voted Conservative in the 2019 federal election, nearly three in five believed this, compared to **** percent of New Democratic Party voters. In 2024, three-quarters of Canadians supported same-sex marriage.
