A study held in the United States in early 2021 found that mainstream news outlets and journalists were the news source paid most attention to among social media news consumers, with ** percent of Twitter users citing these as their main focus when getting news via the platform, and over ** percent of Facebook and YouTube news users said the same. However, ** percent of respondents using YouTube for news said that they paid most attention to internet personalities when finding news there, and ** percent looked most at news content posted by ordinary people.
