As of 2021, Libya accounted for eight percent of the total crude oil imported by the European Union (EU). Nigeria followed, making up seven percent of the imports, while Algeria covered three percent of the EU oil imports. Africa is a key player in the global oil market. In 2020, Africa exported crude oil amounting to over *** million barrels per day.
