In response to the latest coronavirus outbreak in Hong Kong, the local government had announced the second round of shopping coupons to be given to residents who have signed up for the consumer voucher scheme. However, according to a survey from the Democratic Party in Hong Kong in March 2022, about ** percent of respondents stated that they would prefer direct cash payments instead of digital payments via Octopus card, Alipay Hong Kong, or Tencent Hong Kong. The scheme had received some criticisms, such as neglecting the difficulites of online shopping among the elderly.
