As of 2023, 0.5 percent of Ghana's population used electricity as the main source for cooking. The share generally remained stable from 2013 onward. According to the source, people living in urban communities slightly preferred to use for cooking more than those in rural areas. In 2021, around 12,800 gigawatt hours of electricity were sold in Ghana.
