Global transportation sector COâ‚‚ emissions 2023, by country
The United States is the biggest contributor to global transportation emissions by far. In 2023, the U.S. transportation sector produced 1.71 billion metric tons of carbon dioxide (GtCOâ‚‚). This was more than the combined transportation emissions produced in China, India, and Russia. Although the U.S. has the largest transportation emissions worldwide, the North American country has cut emissions from this sector by five percent since they peaked in 2005.
