With the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic in early 2020, retail sales of building materials and supplies in the United States initially stalled, before significantly increasing from May onwards. That year, before the pandemic hit, year-on-year sales growth remained under ** percent. Afterwards, as more and more people took up DIY and home improvement projects, sales growth reached its highest level in June, when sales increased by **** percent in comparison to June 2019.
