In 2023, the area of certified organic rice paddies in Japan amounted to approximately **** thousand hectares. This marked the highest figures for this type of farmland in the surveyed period, but throughout this period they mostly remained on this relative level without any major disruptions. Upland fields accounted for the largest share of certified organic farmland in the country, followed by paddy fields.
