Close to 6.2 million metric tons of plantain were produced in Ghana in 2021, the highest yield registered since 2009. That year, around 3.6 million metric tons of the fruit was produced. Plantain is usually cooked and eaten as a vegetable. It is one of the staple foods in Ghana.
