Geita Gold Mining Limited was the largest gold producer in Tanzania in the financial year 2018/2019. The company, subsidiary of the global gold mining company AngloGold Ashanti, held ** percent of the country's gold production. North Mara Gold Mine Limited was the second main producer, with a market share of ** percent. Together with Buzwagi Gold Mine and Bulyanhulu Gold Mine, North Mara belongs since 2019 to Twiga Minerals Corporation, a joint venture between the global Barrick Gold Corporation and the government of Tanzania.
