Corrosion is the most common cause of incidents reported at oil and biofuel pipelines in the United States. Between 2010 and 2020, corrosion was responsible for 295 accidents whereby people and the environment were negatively impacted. In 2020, U.S. oil pipeline spillage amounted to over 43,000 barrels.
