China accounts for significant processing and refining shares of several of the key minerals for the clean energy transition worldwide. As of 2020, more than ** percent of the world's rare earth minerals, nearly ** percent of cobalt, and nearly ** percent of global lithium was processed in China. This marks a significant supply-chain advantage for China as the transition towards utilizing clean energy sources ramps up on a global scale.
