Between 2007 and 2020, the capacity of ships in the world orderbook generally decreased, reaching some *** million TEU in 2020. It is projected that 2021 should see an uptake in new ship orders, which are expected to amount to some **** million TEU. Consequently, ships in the global orderbook accounted for a lesser share of the world fleet in the observed period. However, this share is projected to increase in 2021, when ships in the world orderbook should make up between ** and ** percent of the global fleet.
