In 2023, Hungary’s most exported products were related to the electrical machinery industry. Hungary exported electrical machinery and additional equipment worth approximately 39 billion euros. Vehicles, other than railway or tramway rolling stock were the second most exported product by the country.

Most important export partners

Hungary is a highly export-orientated country. The main export partner of Hungary is Germany, with over 38 million euros worth of exports recorded in 2023. Other important partners are Italy and neighboring countries such as Romania and Slovakia.

Export and the car industry

Hungary’s export trade with Germany, the largest economic power in Europe, is largely linked to the automotive industry as multiple German car manufacturers such as Opel, Audi, and Mercedes have assembly plants in Hungary. In 2023, the value of vehicles exported to Germany totaled 7.3 billion euros, surpassing other countries by far.
