As of June 2020, Germany contributed troops to the NATO resolute supporting mission in Afghanistan. The Afghan security forces includes 180.9 thousand personnel of the Ministry of defense as well as thousand from the Ministry of Interior. The NATO allied forces begun with the withdrawal of all foreign troops from Afghanistan in April 2021 and planned to complete it by September 11, 2021.
