Student athletes who play college sports in the United States are not compensated for their performance, and there is some debate over whether or not colleges should be allowed to compensate their athletes. During a survey conducted in the U.S. in 2021, ** percent of respondents aged 18 to 34 stated that if colleges compensated student athletes, they strongly believed that all student athletes should be compensated equally, regardless of which sport they play or how much revenue that sport generates. Meanwhile, ** percent of respondents over ** strongly disagreed with this statement.
