The COVID-19 pandemic, which first hit Italy in late February 2020, had a massive impact on life in the country. The measures adopted by the Italian government to control the contagion pushed many businesses to stop or radically scale down their activities. According to a recent survey, around *** million people were working from home as of April 2021, corresponding to **** percent of the total working population in Italy. This figure, however, varied according to the type of employment of the respondents. Self-employed individuals, in fact, were considerably more likely to work from home than people with a fixed-term or temporary contract.
