Remote work in Italy - Statistics & Facts
The coronavirus pandemic has had a massive impact on the lives of people all around the world. The measures adopted by the Italian government to control the contagion pushed many businesses to stop or radically scale down their activities. When possible, people have been asked to work from home, remotely, or at least, to alternate work from home to work from the office. As of April 2021, there were over seven million Italians working remotely. About 27 percent of them were alternating office and home office, while some 15 percent were working exclusively from home. However, the largest shares of employees working remotely were recorded during the first wave of infections, in spring 2020.
