Each unique user account is treated as a single paid subscriber regardless of whether such user purchases multiple subscriptions, and the count of paid subscribers does not include users who are currently on a free trial."

Between 2018 and 2020, the share of Duolingo paid subscribers choosing an annual subscription plan experienced a constant increase, reaching 71 percent in 2020. Duolingo is a language-learning platform that allows users to access most of its content for free. In 2017, the company launched its premium subscription service Duolingo Plus. Between 2019 and the end of 2020, Duolingo Plus paying users increased by 77 percent.
