In 2020, around ** percent of all impact investments in the education sector across India went into the K10 sector. The sector received the highest share of impact investments that year and it's share increased significantly from just ** percent in 2019. The test prep sector followed closely at ** percent.
Investments in 2020 were worth *** billion U.S. dollars in total. This was a significant decrease compared to the previous year, when *** billion dollars were invested. This decrease was noticed predominantly in the later stages, whereas seed investments increased.
Impact investments are mostly equity investments into companies which focus on a positive social and environmental impact and deliver basic services for underprivileged social segments. Key stakeholders in this businesses are low or middle income clients and suppliers.
