In 2020, one in six (** percent) young French women under the age of ** never, or almost never, wore a bra. This figure, which is much higher than the average for French women, can be explained in part by containment, a time of freedom from the aesthetic diktats usually placed on women. Other reasons given by women who do not wear a bra include the discomfort of wearing one, the negative impact that a bra can have on the breasts, or the desire to fight against the sexualization of women's breasts, which requires them to be hidden from others.
