Italians' opinions on Catholic Church conservatism 2020
In Italy, over ** percent of citizens are formally Catholic. Nevertheless, the share of practicing Catholics is relatively low compared to the high formal adherence, according to the results of a survey. The Catholic Church is often criticized for being too conservative and for still operating as it did in the past. According to data collected in 2020, more than half of Italian respondents stated that the Church has experienced some changes in the last years. On the contrary, about ** percent of interviewees believe that it is still operating as it did in the past.
