Annual drug consumption in France has varied widely by drug type between 1992 and 2023. While heroin use remains at a low level between *** and *** percent of respondents, the rate of cannabis use has risen sharply in 25 years. In 1992, *** percent of respondents reported using cannabis in that year. In 2023, it was over ten percent. The share of cocaine users has also increased over the same period, with a more significant increase since 2000 from *** to *** percent in 23 years. In the 2010s, it was the consumption of ecstasy/MDMA that increased significantly, with a threefold increase in the rate of users.
