Semi-structured interviews were used, with 210 experts and current and former policymakers in 15 territories including the US, the UK, France, Germany, Russia, China, Israel, Iran, Palestine, Syria, Lebanon, Yemen, Iraq, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

According to a survey on the steps to enable a security framework in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region in 2020, ** percent of respondents thought that the Biden administration should manage the regional security issues in the MENA region through returning to the JCPOA. ** percent of respondents thought that regional actors themselves have the authority to manage a regional security process.
