Air pollution and water pollution are the most concerning environmental impacts of product packaging across all age groups in China. In 2020, those aged 18 to 34 were slightly more concerned about air pollution than those in other age groups. Product packaging can negatively impact the environment in a number of ways such as deforestation due to increasing demand for paper packaging, emissions from production, and littering by end consumers. Across China, the most concerning environmental impact of packaging is air pollution.
