In 2023, the production value of portable computers in Taiwan amounted to nearly ** billion New Taiwan dollars. The region's computer manufacturing sector had reached the highest output since 2004. It was due to Taiwan's successful COVID-19 strategy, rising tensions between mainland China and the United States, and several government initiatives. The Action Plan for Welcoming Overseas Taiwanese Businesses to Return to Invest in Taiwan was launched in 2019 and was partly responsible for the positive developments, according to the Ministry of Economic Affairs.
