As of 2018, biomass constituted nearly a half of the total primary energy demand in Africa. Biomass was indeed the predominant energy source on the continent, accounting for ** percent of the demand. This was followed by oil and natural gas, as these fossil fuels represented, respectively, ** percent and ** percent of Africa's primary energy demand.
