Liqueurs in Japan include alcoholic beverages with an alcohol content of more than two percent. Popular drinks include mixed drinks like "shochu" highballs ("chuhai") and sours. Until the reform of liquor tax laws in 2023, beer-like beverages made from grains, pulses, and other ingredients ("daisan beer") that are mixed with "shochu" contributed to the liqueur market growth but has since been reclassified as "happoshu".
