Including corporations with a capital of less than 300 million Japanese yen as well as corporations and individuals with less than 300 employees.
Excluding the five major breweries Asahi Breweries, Suntory Beer, Sapporo Breweries, Kirin Brewery, and Orion Breweries.

Craft beer domestic sales volume in Japan FY 2015-2018
In fiscal year 2018, the domestic sales volume of craft beer manufactured by microbreweries in Japan amounted to just over ** thousand kiloliters, an increase from less than ** thousand kiloliters in fiscal 2015. As the Japanese beer market is dominated by the leading enterprises Asahi, Suntory, Sapporo, and Kirin, microbreweries entering the market are predominantly producing beer-like beverages as side businesses.
