Copyright protection societies collected over 10 billion euros in royalties for artists and creators in 2019. After a five year growth period, figures were forecast to drop by between 2 and 3.5 billion in 2020 due to the impact of the coronavirus pandemic. The estimates are based on predictions from collection bodies worldwide that are members of the International Confederation of Societies of Authors and Composers (CISAC).
