Respondents were asked to comment on their gambling frequency in the 30 days before COVID-19 restrictions (February 2020/before COVID-19) and in the 30 days before completing the survey (May-July 2020/during COVID-19).
All respondents had previously participated in gambling with 79 percent reporting having spent money on gambling at least once a week.

In 2020, male respondents to a survey on gambling habits before and during the coronavirus pandemic indicated that they spent on average *** Australian dollars in a month during the pandemic. This was an increase of over *** Australian dollars compared to before the COVID-19 pandemic. Women, on the other hand, indicated that they spent less on gambling during the pandemic.
