The Covid-19 pandemic, which started in 2020, substantially impacted French tourism on a global scale. Nevertheless, consequences are also measurable at a more regional scale. In the ÃŽle-de-France region, the tourist overnight stays dropped drastically, with most of the decline occurring among international tourists. The number of tourist overnight stays among the international tourists decreased from *** million in January 2020 to *** million in April 2020. Since then, this figure has had difficulties exceeding the * million tourist overnight stays again. The tourist overnight stays decline was less marked - from *** million in January 2020 to *** million in April 2020 - among national tourists. Furthermore, this figure rose swiftly back to *** million tourist overnight stays and was quite stable between June and October 2020.
