In 2020, the coronavirus pandemic caused stay-at-home measures to be put in place across the globe. This combined with many non-essential establishments, such as cinemas, theaters, and gyms, being required to close meant that the public were left with more restricted recreation options. In the United States, a survey showed that as of **** the activity that increased the most as a result of the pandemic was cooking, with ** percent of respondents saying they have participated in this activity more during the crisis. Watching more TV programs and reading more were also high up on the list, with ** percent and ** percent of respondents respectively stating they had increased doing these things.
