In fiscal year 2019, the average traffic volume of toll fee chargeable expressways in Japan operated by West Nippon Expressway Co., Ltd. (NEXCO West) reached a record high of around **** million vehicles per day, up from roughly **** million vehicles in the previous year. NEXCO West is one of the six formally privatized expressway companies that succeeded Japan's former public corporations operating arguably the most vital highway routes throughout the country.
