Swedes who used mobile payment app Swish the most for transferring money between private persons in 2020 were neither Millennial nor Gen Z. Instead, it was the age group 40 to 64 years, conducting roughly P2P payments in August 2020. This is surprising, as the source mentions that this particular age group was Swish's lowest customer base. It notes, however, that it is likely that due to the coronavirus pandemic elderly people had to stay at home. Those who already were familiar with Swish then used the app more and more to pay family and friends for any purchases they did for them. This growing use of Switsh comes bank in an overview of Sweden's most used payment methods - as the smartphone application overtook the use of cash money in 2020.
