Supplementary notes
In this report, SMEs are considered to be companies that have less than 250 employees, and have a turnover less that 50 million euros. Start-ups are considered to be you enterprises, founded in 2015 or later, that have introduced any kind of innovation in the last 12 months, and plan to grow in terms of turnover and/or employment. Scale-ups are defined as mature enterprises, founded prior to 2015, that have had significant employment and/or turnover growth since 2016, thus in the last three years.
