Households with access to sufficient drinking water in Ghana 2018
In 2018, 89.2 percent of people living in the rural areas and 87.2 percent of people living in urban areas in Ghana had access to sufficient drinking water. Overall, 88.3 percent of the total number of household members in Ghana have access to water in sufficient quantities.
Reasons accounting for people's inability to access drinking water in these areas include the unavailability of water from source, inaccessibility of water sources, and the monetary expensiveness in acquiring water. The number of unimproved sources of drinking water in Ghana are more than improved sources. Although there has been a significant improvement in access to water in the country, one out of ten people spends more than 30 minutes to access an improved source of basic drinking water.
