In a survey conducted across India in April and May 2020, approximately ** percent of rural households claimed to have received no cash transfers to their Jan Dhan accounts during the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic. In contrast, approximately ** percent of urban households claimed to have received no cash transfer to their Jan Dhan account. However, the limited reach of Jan Dhan account to urban households led to a higher percentage claiming to have received no cash transfer at all under any central or state specific scheme.
