According to a survey conducted in May 2020 in Japan, a significant majority of respondents, almost ** percent, stated that they have not planned or looked into travel for the year. Only around a quarter had the intention of going on domestic travel in 2020.
The survey revealed that the share of people with travel intentions decreased sharply in April 2020 following the nationwide declaration of a state of emergency in Japan due to the global coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.
