According to a survey conducted in April 2020 in Japan, the largest share of respondents, around **** percent, stated that they would only go outside or travel again, when a therapeutic agent or vaccine is publicly available to treat the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).
Following the declaration of the state of emergency in several prefectures at the beginning of the month, the emergency order was extended to a nationwide level on April 16. With the government requesting citizens to practice self-restraint an remain at home, domestic travels were restricted and entry bans were issued for inbound travelers.
