In the past decade, Argentina experienced an overall declinining trend in the number of European hares slaughtered. In 2019, around *** thousand hares were slaughtered and processed for meat consumption in the South American country, down from *** thousand a year earlier, and a decrease of ** percent in comparison to the beginning of the decade. The European hare is an exotic species in Argentina, whose population is controlled through an annual hunting season. The processed meat is mainly directed at exports. As such, in the same period, exports of rabbit meat from Argentina also showed a downward trend.
