Warranty and indemnity insurance (W&I) covers financial losses arising from unintentional or unknown breaches of warranty inherent to mergers and acquisitions (M&A). Between 2009 and 2019, more than half of UK W&I insurance notifications were because of a tax breach. In Germany, the leading reason for an insurance notification was a financial statement breach at ** percent. In Europe, most notifications were made regarding tax breaches.
