In 2024, there were occurrences of yellow dust entering South Korea. Yellow dust that impacts air quality in South Korea originates from China and the Mongolian deserts, and typically blows into the country during the springtime, although this phenomenon can also occur in winter. Extreme cases of yellow dust can cause respiratory problems and even lead to the temporary closing of schools or cancellation of flights in some cases.
