Due to measures introduced to curb the spread of the coronavirus (COVID-19) in India, retail and recreational mobility saw the steepest decline across states. Tamil Nadu saw a decrease of ** percent as of September 27 compared to baseline figures from January and February 2020. By contrast, Jammu and Kashmir saw an increase of *** percent compared to baseline values. This could be attributed to the reorganization of the region from special status to a union territory in October 2019 and lockdown provisions, including a shutdown of phone and internet services.
