Coronavirus workforce measures of businesses in South Africa in 2020
Laying off workers in the short term was the most common workforce measure that businesses in South Africa implemented as a response to the coronavirus. This according to a survey in April 2020. Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown in South Africa, businesses implemented various workforce measures to lower the economic impact. According to this survey, approximately ** percent indicated to lay off staff in the short term, whereas **** percent implemented a decrease in working hours. Roughly ** percent, on the other hand, said no measures have been taken.
